(April 19, 2009) Since most of us lead these ordinary lives, we like to watch epic stories and put ourselves there. God's desire is for you to become a superhero. God has destined us for greatness. We just have to learn to step into the role. Most superheroes are ordinary people who become extraordinary. There is always a transformational event that leads them to the role of the hero. Then, later they discover that their role was destined for a higher purpose. The man with the supernatural step, Enoch, is a hero of the Bible. He walked with God for over 360 years. He had a fellowship, a friendship with God. Literally. He walked right into heaven into the end of his life. His walk with God was the pleasing of God. If your life is all about people skills, but you have no God skills, you can't walk with God. When was the last time that you decided to just please God that day? If you want to have a relationship with God, you have to start exercising your faith. Sometimes we are spiritual porkers, asking the Pastor to feed and feed and feed us at the spiritual Golden Corral, but never work off that by exercising the actions he talked about that Sunday. God has never failed and He cannot fail. However, we have free will and can make our own choices to walk with Him or not. Enoch constantly lived and recognized the presence of God. If the Trinity was watching us in service this morning, would our worship be different? Absolutely! You can't walk with someone very long if you don't recognize them, know them. The same goes for our walk with God. How skilled are you in your relationship with God? Are you talking to Him daily? Are you listening? Enoch knew how to communicate with God. His communication with God was far beyond words. He knew how to just bask in His presence. His walk was continual daily for years and years until he walked right up into Heaven. When you choose to walk with God, it is always forward. Okay, so that's great about Enoch, but what about what that means for me? First, he had a leadership role that put him under constant pressure. Next, he had a family. Also, he lived under a corrupt time period, soiled with evil. In spite of those things, he was a bold witness for God. He was not afraid to call things out. God allows us to be broken so that we can be put back together even stronger. It is a time for restoration. So, how is your walk with God? Is it like Enoch's? Are you practicing the presence of God? Are you communicating with God? Do you have a testimony that would be pleasing to God? The Good News is that if the answer is no to any of these questions, it doesn't have to be that way for You can change the future today!
