Suffering from Insomnia?

(July 27, 2008)
What are some of your crazy methods for trying to fall asleep? Ever tried writing a song?

Psalm 77 is the original song of the insomniac.

Do the problems of the day seem to overwhelm you at night? Sometimes we get irrational when we can't sleep. We need to turn our troubles over to the Lord.

Our sleep depravation could be due to our worrying too much. It could also be that God is trying to keep us awake so he can speak to you. We tend to go 100 miles an hour and our lives become spiritually unbalanced. Think about it: when we don't get proper nutrition, our bodies get out of whack. The same goes for your soul. If you don't nurish yourself spiritually, your body may get out of whack with insomnia being a possible side effect of that. Respond to God with "song". Take time to meditate on God's glory, not on the problem. Meditate on the testimony of God's people. Tell Him how you were saved by Him and thank him for how in a previous situation He was with you. Thank God for all of the great miracles He did for you in the Old and New Testaments.

Could it be that the next time you are awaken in the middle of the night, it may be for a divine purpose? It could be that God wants you to pray for someone!

Remember: God is the Great Insomniac because He's always awake!
