![]() (Fastest playback with free Apple Quicktime player. Don't have it? Click here.) (August 8, 2010) Heard of Twitter? Most of us have, even if we don't use it. In order to send a message, you have to keep it under 140 characters. It's called microblogging. Some have even taken the great works in literature and created Twitature, or reduced them down to 140 characters. Can you imagine? Let's take a certain aspect of the word and twitterize it. Let's look at eschatology. What is it? It's the study of the end times. When we talk about the end times, some love it, some hate it and some don't care. Those who love it talk about it all the time, sometimes ad nauseum. Those who don't care need to. Those who hate talking about it need to embrace it. Which are you? What would Jesus tweet? He might start off with Don't be afraid. Life, money, feelings are fragile. His Word is not. It's not fleeting. You have to trust His Word. He says "fear not little flock". If you are a Christian, you shouldn't be afraid of Jesus' coming. You should welcome it! You should be excited by it! If you don't know Jesus, you are most likely afraid. If you love Jesus and are still afraid, then we ask you "why?". God is well-pleased to give us the Kingdom. Our second tweet would be Have an eternal perspective. "Where your treasure is, let your heart be there also." We need to live with eternity in mind. Imagine being given a $100 bill at church. You can spend it however you want to over the course of the next 7 days, but you have to report where each and every penny went to the congregation on the next Sunday. How would you spend it? Think about human life. Most will have 75 years of life. This is a crumb of a cookie on a giant plate filled with thousands of dozens of cookies. Don't waste your life. Use your life to have an eternal perspective. The next tweet would be simply Be ready. When it comes to Christ's return, be ready. Don't let things pile up. Clean up and build that relationship with Him. Frequently tidy up. Does you lifestyle tell people that "this is it" or "there's much more in store"? Simplification is important. If you feel like you have to throw a bunch of "christianese" at people to get them to come to Christ, you are sadly mistaken. Be a great communicator: take something hard and make it simple. Tweet this: Jesus is coming. Don't be afraid. Have an eternal perspective. Be ready.
