Seasons of Relationship

(November 9, 2008)

Be the person who will go after your marriage with all that you have! Every relationship goes through seasons:

1. Romance. During this season, love is in the air! You are in love and everyone around you knows it.

2. Reality. When one finds out that their excitement and enthusiasm has waned for their spouse. The stage may require one to choose to love instead of be in love.

3. Resentment. Every marriage goes through this. The object of your affection is now the object of your frustration. Your character is tested and your need to love your spouse. Patience, tolerance and forgiveness are necessary to keep the marriage alive.

4. Rebuilding. Both spouse need to participate here. It's build back up to the romance that created your bond in the first place. It takes communication and understanding. When you ask a man how he feels, he'll tell you what he thinks. When you ask a woman what she thinks, she'll tell you how she feels.

There are three skills needed to be Lifetime Lovers:

1. Remembering. Remember that we are different and choose to adapt accordingly. Celebrate your differences, don't condemn them.

2. Asking. Asking and granting forgiveness is very important here.

3. Deciding. Deciding to love and keep on loving. It's choosing to be happily ever after when you're not happy.
